This tour can be undertaken as a half day tour as well as a full day tour, it's perfect for those who want a bit of everything Scotland has to offer via a short drive from Edinburgh.
Mystery and intrigue can be found at out first stop of the famous Rosslyn Chapel, located just outside Edinburgh. International fame was brought to the chapel in the 2003 best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code along with the film adaptation in 2006. We spend at least an hour here for you to wander around the chapel marvelling at the plant carvings and the stain glass windows.
A short drive away is Glenkinchie Distillery, home to 'Edinburgh's Malt'. We have time to take a tour of the distillery and sample some of their famous Glenkinchie 12 Year old malt. The tour lasts around 1.5 hours and features the museum and distillery production area. Of course there will be time to sample their 'water of life'.
Our next stop is Tantallon Castle via the historic town of Haddington, the castle now is a semi-ruined mid-14th-century fortress, with a prominent position looking out onto the Firth of Forth and nearby Bass Rock.
The Bass Rock, viewed from North Berwick
North Berwick is a very short drive away, the Scottish Seabird Centre is located here along with views of the Bass Rock. We have the option of climbing up Berwick Law to obtain fantastic views of North Berwick and the Firth of Forth. We continue through the village of Dirleton where the medieval fortress Dirleton Castle is positioned. Our journey to Gullane and Muirfield area takes us along the picturesque coastal roads of East Lothian where we pass views of the Firth of Forth and nature reserves. Muirfield has hosted The Open Championship, depending on the day you want to take this tour, we may be able visit the clubhouse. Visitors are allowed into Muirfield on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
